Sports in
Grenada as in the rest of the West Indies, is centred around
Cricket, Football and Track and Field. In 1993 Junior Murray
became the first Grenadian to play Test Cricket for the West
Indies.
With the completion
of its National Stadium in 1999, Grenada is now poised to
host a variety of sporting events including International
Cricket, Football and Track & Field events. To date this
multi-purpose sporting, cultural, shopping and office complex
has hosted several events including -
- International One Day Cricket
matches (West Indies vs. Australia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and
South Africa respectively)
- Pre-season training camps
for Northamptonshire and Sussex
- England A Preparation
for the 2001 Busta Cup
- CARIFTA Games 2000 Champions
There
are also several smaller sport centers throughout the country
with dedicated netball, track and field, football or cricket
facilities.
Our nine hole
Golf course, public tennis courts and 25m swimming pool are
just a few of the other facilities available in Grenada for
your next Sporting event.
