Beneath the waves of Grenada and her sister island Carriacou lies some of the Caribbean’s most dramatic and unspoiled underwater scenery. From lazy drift dives over endless coral gardens to the mystery and majesty of Bianca C, the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean, Grenada's and Carriacou's waters offer captivating images to divers of all levels.
To many adventurers, Grenada and Carriacou remain a secret, and pressure from tourists is lower than on other Caribbean destinations. The reefs, wrecks and coral walls are therefore unspoiled by crowds, and many sites even remain unexplored. Expansive forests of delicate wire coral stand in testimony to the undamaged state of the reefs. Along with unimaginable varieties of coral, the sea floor is populated with gorgonians and mobile bottom-dwellers such as crabs, shrimp, ambush hunters, stingrays, and even shy and highly prized seahorses. Up from the bottom, spotted eagle rays may glide past, while hungry predators such as barracuda, jacks, and sharks patrol for opportunities to strike at the dizzying swirls of baitfish.
Please note the following regulations geared at preserving the undersea treasures. Damaging coral by anchor, chains or any other means anywhere in Grenada's waters is prohibited. No marine life may be taken while scuba diving nor may any coral, sponges, etc. be taken from Grenadian waters at any time. Use of a spear gun, Hawaiian sling, pole spear or a seine net is not permitted without a license.
