Grenada Invitational 2017

If you love athletics and you love the Caribbean, Grenada Invitational is where you need to be on April 8th, 2017.

It was the most exciting news to be released at the end of last year and now we’re weeks away from hosting the first major meet of the 2017 outdoor track and field season. Our most promising Grenadian athletes will compete alongside renowned international stars in a showdown you don’t want to miss.

In 2016, St. Kitts sprinter and 2003 World Champion Kim Collins, became the first 40-year-old to run under 10 seconds in a 100-meter race. He can’t wait to show the world why everything is nice on our island of spice. Our national treasure and Grenada’s first Olympic Gold Medalist Kirani James wants everyone to know he’ll be there. American sprinter and former 100-meter Olympic and World Champion, Justin Gatlin can’t wait to burn some rubber on the track and eight-time Olympic medalist and the second woman in history to win two consecutive Olympic 200-meter races Veronica Campbell Brown wants you to come out and witness this exciting event. If that’s not enough to convince you, then we hope you’ll be just as excited to experience Grenada as Jamaican Sprinter Asafa Powell, the World Record Holder for the Men’s 100-meter from 2005 to 2008.

The organisers of Grenada Invitational have lots in store on and off the track. A performance from energetic Trinidadian soca star Machel Montano and Jamaican sound system Stone Love has already been confirmed for the after party at the National Cricket Stadium.

If you didn’t make it to Rio 2016 Olympics and you’re not sure if you’ll make it to South Korea in 2018, you should definitely make it to Grenada Invitational 2017.

The event begins at 2:00pm (Eastern Caribbean Time), Saturday 8th April 2017. ESPN will broadcast the event at 6pm Eastern Caribbean Time and U.S. East Coast Time up to 9:30pm.
