My husband and I chose to get married on "Ole Years" in Grenada because December 31st was his grandparents' wedding anniversary and my grandparents were from Grenada. We are truly a Caribbean couple as we met in Barbados; our first trip together was to St Lucia; we got engaged in Cuba and we got married in Grenada.

We visited earlier this year and we fell in love with the island. The people are so warm and friendly. The beaches are so inviting and while we were there, we felt the true essence of the spice isle. We felt as though we were a part of the community and we knew that Grenada would have been the perfect location for our nuptials and for us to express our love for each other before our family and friends!

Blessed Sacrament RC Church was the perfect location for our wedding being so close to Grand Anse. The priests (Father Harris and Father Haynes) and the staff (Mrs. Williams-Marryshaw) were so wonderful to us. The wedding reception at Secret Harbour Marina was an absolutely gorgeous location with a beautiful, panoramic vista, which was beyond our wildest dreams and the manager (Mitra) truly exhibited the Grenadian hospitality. Mekalia at Island Catering went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us chose a venue, menu and gave us references to all the different vendors for our wedding.

All of the 94 attendees at our wedding enjoyed Grenada to the maximum after taking tours, visiting the beaches and feeling the warmth of the spice isle. Most of our guests stayed at the Radisson Beach Resort and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the hotel.

After being enveloped by love during our time in Grenada, we have now assumed the title of "Spice Couple" and our bridesmaids and groomsmen are "Spice Girls" and "Spice Shakers" respectively. We are forever indebted to Grenada for providing the perfect venue for us to embark on our journey through life.

PS. My husband is convinced that we are moving to Grenada so we will be back soon!’

Meet Jacqui and Richard

We both grew up in the capital city of St. George’s. Many moons ago when we were at school a young man (who is now my husband) would pass and give me that smile, which I’d coyly brush off. Fast forward to 2014 when he proposed and it all became a reality, none of the beautiful locations and venues we looked at in the UK or Canada could match up to our homeland Grenada. We wanted to celebrate our union in the presence of our nearest and dearest friends and family, particularly our mothers, but most of all we wanted to kick off our shoes and stroll along the beach after our ceremony.

We finally decided on a beachfront wedding at Aquarium restaurant and we were so impressed by the support we received from the staff and management. In Grenada, we were able to source everything we needed, from the most amazing tropical flowers to the perfect decorations for our rustic island wedding theme.

We were already in an idyllic location, so we decided to have our honeymoon at True Blue Bay Resort. We stayed in their charming Honeymoon Suites which  put more icing on the cake. By the way, we had the best wedding cake made in Grenada.

Getting married in Grenada truly takes away the stress of planning a wedding. Everyone has a  calm and composed demeanour that puts you at ease. The well-wishes from strangers on the beach were next to none. If we had to do it all over again we’d choose Grenada time and time again.

I was born in Carriacou but grew up and lived in the UK. We decided to have a Destination Wedding in Grenada because I missed the sun, sea and beautiful beaches. I wanted to share this with my loving wife and I wanted her to experience our culture. The laid-back lifestyle in Grenada made us feel relaxed before and on our big day. After we got married, we took some time to enjoy the sights and met so many wonderful people. And the food, we could not get enough of the food!
